The Name A Number Trick

EFFECT: Someone picks a card, and puts it back. The deck is "shuffled", and the card is "lost" in the deck. Then the spectator names a number. The card is found at that number with no suspicious moves.

THE TRICK: Have someone pick a card, and bring it to the top of the deck by means of a pass or if you cannot do the pass just do a false shuffle.

Then shuffle the deck again, leaving their card on top. But you need to get two cards from the bottom of the deck above their card. You can do this by overhand shuffling, by pulling one card at a time from the bottom with your fingers to the top. It doesn't matter how you just need to do it.(You just need their card 3rd from the top.)

Now you need to do a couple more secret moves, and you're set. Get a break with your pinky to the middle of the deck, and by whatever means, turn over half of the bottom of the deck, so that half the cards are facing half of the others. You can shield this manuever with one hand gripping the top of the deck, and the other hand underneath turning half of the cards over.

OK. Now you need to turn the entire deck over, so the spectators card is 3rd from the bottom, facing up. To turn the deck over, just hold it in dealing position, and roll up your sleeve, or point to something with the deck hand. This will turn the whole deck over without anyone noticing. These little moves are to be done while talking to the people and/or looking at them. OK. You are set.

Show the deck in your open hand, and ask the person to name any number between 5 and 20, to be short. Take this number, and subtract it by 3. Simple math. Remember this, and ask them to hold out their hand.

Count to the amount of cards of that number you remembered. Deal them face down onto their hand. When you get there, you need to turn the deck over again. You can do this by using your deck hand, and your other hand, to flip over the cards in their hand, and ask them, "Have I gotten to your card yet?"

They should say no. Now their card should be 3rd from the top of the deck again. Just continue counting to their named number, and thats where their card should be. Whoa! This all sounds complicated, but practice and you can get it flowing TRUST ME !!!
